Soudal 4.0 goes digital with BIM
BIM content library of Soudal product range

Using the Soudal BIM Application Suite - powered by ThorbiQ, Soudal goes digital with BIM (Building Information Modelling) to deliver additional value for every stakeholder in the construction process. A number of applications have been made available through the Soudal Suite, in particular the Preframe System Selector and Sealing System Selector, from where the entire product range for window installation and its sealing can be consulted in just a couple of simple steps by means of smart filtering.

In addition to viewing all kinds of product-specific information, such as 2D and 3D images, brochures, technical data sheets, specification texts, certificates, etc., there is the option to download, load and/or load the Soudal products as BIM content & in a Revit model. Additionally, Soudal provides many smart tools to support the building actor (architect, dealer, ...) with a fully integrated experience of its BIM content library for Revit using the Soudal Revit plugin.

What is BIM?

info

BIM stands for Building Information Modelling, an intelligent model-based process that is increasingly being used in the construction industry. It provides clear insights to help architecture, engineering, and construction professionals with their planning, designing, constructing and managing of buildings and infrastructures. It is the only digital process that brings together all aspects of a construction project and thus encourages collaboration and aims to reduce issues during construction, as well as save on time and money. BIM is therefore not an objective in itself, but a collaborative and efficient working method requiring the commitment of all stakeholders, in other words BIM is an integrated approach from design to execution.

info

BIM, it’s all over the place these days! Whether it be architects, contractors or engineers, more and more building professionals are switching to the BIM method. Soudal is much more than sealants, PU foams and adhesives, with our system solutions for the installation and airtight sealing of external joinery, for example, we can bring added value to any BIM project. From now on, BIM users can download Soudal products from our BIM Application Suite. Soudal wants to help simplify the work process of architects and other players. To that end, it makes all of its product specifications readily available in a single digital environment. This digital environment functions as an all-inclusive database which contains all relevant product details, such as 2D and 3D images, brochures, technical data sheets, specification texts, certificates and a reference to the product page on the Soudal website. Because the information in this database is completely monitored in-house, we can guarantee that the information is always up to date. You can simply download them from the Suite.

By joining BIM, Soudal aims to contribute to more efficient and sustainable construction projects!

2. Select a SoudaFrame and load it into a BIM model

After this tutorial, you can really get started with our Preframe System Selector. The tutorial shows the handy filter function, which helps to select the appropriate pre-frame. The video also shows how a pre-frame can be imported and placed as a separate object in a BIM model.

3. How to add a proper sealing to the SoudaFrame?

For the installation of exterior joinery, the sealing is just as important as the window itself. This tutorial takes you through the different steps to select the most suitable sealing and shows how the selected combination can be added to the BIM model.

4. How to adjust the level of detail of SoudaFrame in a BIM model?

One of the advantages of the Soudal BIM Suite is that the level of detail of a SoudaFrame object can be adjusted, from generic to specific. This is important for public tenders, where the prescriber must remain brand independent in his specifications text.

5. How to integrate the SoudaFrame pre-frame and a window into a BIM model simultaneously?

SoudaFrame BIM objects allow you to add a generic window to the BIM model along with placing the pre-frame. This tutorial shows you how to do this in a few simple clicks.

6. How do you configure a window with the integrated Window Configurator?

After the installation of a SoudaFrame pre-frame with a generic window, this window can be further specified according to the wishes of the client. After which the configured window is loaded back into the BIM model. Once decided which manufacturer gets the projects, the generic window can be replaced by a brand specific one.
